Hristiana Kirova - Architect / Designer / Maker

As a child pencils and a sketchbook were always with me. I could spend hours drawing what I see or what I was imagining. Drawing has always been my way to communicate with the world around.

While growing up my interest in drawing is constantly deepening and I am constantly finding ways to broaden my skills.  I always keep my spectrum of interest widely open, exploring different artistic fields.

As an undergraduate student at the University of Greenwich, London, my work was focused on public spaces and performance. I was constantly exploring new ideas how performance could be integrated into modern architecture.

During my postgraduate studying, I significantly broaden my knowledge and improved my drawing and making skills.

During the first year of Diploma, I did a research project of the role of architectural conservation nowadays, and I examined the restoration of the Mackintosh building at the Glasgow school of Art (GSA)  as a case study.

The final year at GSA was really exciting and a very crucial for my professional development. I studied a variety of methods for mapping and visual representation.

The topic of the Final Design Thesis was focused on Urban river restoration, particularly the Manzanarez river in Madrid.

Furthermore, I did many extra curriculum activities , such as life drawing and wood turning, which I believe contribute to my practice as a young designer, defining my own style of work.

Besides, out of the architecture practice you can find me hanging upside down very often.  I teach yoga and pole dancing , practice aerial hoop and silks.
